Opportunities Offered by Plant Bioactive Compounds to Improve Silage Quality, Animal Health and Product Quality for Sustainable Ruminant Production: A Review

چکیده

Plant bioactive compounds (PBC) are widespread in the plant kingdom, including forage species, but their impact on silage fermentation and ruminant use of PBC-containing has been under-researched. The beneficial effects PBC include plant-protein protection against excessive degradation by tannins or polyphenol oxidase leading to reduced soluble nitrogen (N) better N efficiency animals, emissions pollutants such as enteric methane (CH4), improved animal health through antimicrobial, anthelmintic antioxidant activities, positive product quality—especially greater increased polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) content. However, there still gaps research that require an interdisciplinary effort ensure a balanced approach co-addresses economic, environmental pillars sustainability. Here we review potential offered improve quality, nutrient efficiency, performances ruminants, quality. In addition, example cross-fertilization between disciplines show incorporating legume species grass can provide multiple additive from

Opportunities to Improve Gut Health in Ruminant Production Systems

In the past decade there have been a large number of publications describing how the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) plays a pivotal role in health and disease (Spor et al., 2011). These findings coincide with the advancement of molecular based sequencing techniques that have allowed researchers to investigate the expression of genes in gut tissues and the microbial communities with great efficien...

Biotechnological Strategies to Improve Plant Biomass Quality for Bioethanol Production

The transition from an economy dependent on nonrenewable energy sources to one with higher diversity of renewables will not be a simple process. It requires an important research effort to adapt to the dynamics of the changing energy market, sort costly processes, and avoid overlapping with social interest markets such as food and livestock production. In this review, we analyze the desirable t...

The Effect of a Silage Inoculant on Silage Quality, Aerobic Stability and Milk Production

A silage inoculant [Biomin® BioStabil Plus, BSP, a blend of Enterococcus faecium (DSM 3530), Lactobacillus brevis (DSM 19456) and Lactobacillus plantarum (DSM 19457)], was used on legume-grass silage [32% of dry matter (DM)] vs. an untreated control silage (CT). The material had mean crude protein (CP) and water soluble carbohydrate (WSC) concentrations of 174 and 88 g/kg,respectively. BSP resu...

Board-invited review: Opportunities and challenges in using exogenous enzymes to improve ruminant production.

The ability of ruminants to convert plant biomass unsuitable for human consumption into meat and milk is of great societal and agricultural importance. However, the efficiency of this process is largely dependent on the digestibility of plant cell walls. Supplementing ruminant diets with exogenous enzymes has the potential to improve plant cell wall digestibility and thus the efficiency of feed...

Design Quality: A Key Factor to Improve the Product Quality in International Production Networks

As the result of the broken-up value chain of the world, design becomes an independent commodity. Goods often are designed in one company and produced in another company. Although product is shaped in manufacturing companies of supply chain, design quality is the key sticking-point for product quality. Therefore, finished goods quality lies on the quality of Design-Manufacturing Chain. This pap...
